Jill is an 11-year Air Force veteran and currently works for the Department of Defense. Jill and her husband joined CrossFit ReVamped in September 2012, and soon thereafter her entire family was working out at the box. She received her Level 1 Certification in February 2014, CrossFit Kids Certification in August 2014, and CrossFit Gymnastics Certification in October of 2014. From an early age Jill took an interest in coaching and teaching, she began student teaching various genres of dance and acrobatics while in high school and college. After moving to Maryland, she began coaching cheerleading for Ft. Meade Youth Services and went on to coach for the Columbia Ravens. Jill has also been involved in coaching her sons’ sports teams to include soccer and baseball. CrossFit opened her eyes to a wider view of functional fitness, a healthy self-image for herself and her family, the camaraderie and sense of community she missed from the military, and the joy she receives training others to do something she feels so passionate about.
“Growing up I was always involved in some type of activity or sport to include dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, and track. In high school, I got hooked on working out during the offseason for track. I was fortunate enough to have a coach that worked with us year-round and stressed the importance of weight training. Fast-forward 15 years - I saw many friends having these amazing results with CrossFit so I decided to give it a try in September of 2012. I was hooked after my first night, and soon my youngest son began asking when ReVamped would get CrossFit Kids. Once Alea started the program, I knew I wanted to get my certification so I could coach kids. My goal as a coach is to inspire individuals to make long-term lifestyle changes; I love that CrossFit’s commitment to functional movement makes it the perfect program for individuals of all ages and abilities. CrossFit has given me the confidence to try things I would have never dreamed of, or felt I was capable of such as running a half marathon with little to no training. As a coach and an athlete I see it every day in the box whether it is one of my CrossFit Kids or an adult athlete getting their first box jump or first pull-up – there is no greater joy for a coach than seeing some achieve their goals!”
